RACER REVIVAL

From Cancellations to Canadian Comeback: Helluvachevy Ignites a Racing Revival

Less than two weeks ago, the drag racing world felt like it was running on fumes. The much-anticipated New Hampshire Speed Promotions event — cancelled. We were days away, hours from the track, and ready to throw down, only to be sidelined. Not long after, the rest of the Speed Promotions Canada events went dark too. It was a gut punch. The kind that takes the wind out of your sails and sends shockwaves through the garages and group chats of racers and fans alike.

But here’s what happens when a determined rookie Outlaw racer refuses to sit back and let disappointment write the story.

Enter Helluvachevy —raised in motorsport entertainment and driven by a deep loyalty to Canadian fans and racing culture. He wasn’t about to let the cancellation of a few events derail months of momentum, sponsor expectations, or fan enthusiasm. So, he got to work.

A Couple of Phone Calls

When the circuit went quiet, Chevy dialed up a few of his fellow Outlaws with a wild idea: “What if we raced anyway.”

With RAD Torque Raceway already deep in preparations for the Rocky Mountain Nationals (July 11–13), an event that’s been a staple on the Canadian drag racing calendar for over two decades, a fuse was lit. Outlaw racing talent was available. The fans were eager. And the track was ready.

“We’re In” Outlaws Heading North

The response was strong. Despite a calendar shake-up, several of the most recognizable names in the Outlaws series made the decision to join forces with Canadian talent at the Rocky Mountain Nationals. Among the racers making the trek:

  • Ryan Martin in the legendary Fireball Camaro is heading north, ready to light up the lanes.
  • Shaun Ellington (aka Murder Nova) bringing the kind of intensity that commands silence at the starting line.
  • Nate Sayler and the Gucci Nova — fast, sleek, and dangerous.
  • Carson Baker with the ever-iconic Speedo Cheeto, ready to burn rubber across Alberta asphalt. Don’t ask. Just watch it launch and laugh at the name later.

A Welcome Return

Canadian Outlaw Pro Mod competitors, already slotted to run at the Nationals, were quick to embrace the collaboration— a powerful blend of Canadian grit and American muscle joining forces in front of a loyal fan base.

What began as a workaround for a cancelled event has evolved into one of the most exciting drag racing weekends of the year. It’s not just a comeback. It’s a Party of Power!

A Supercharged Nationals

The Rocky Mountain Nationals now offers even more bang for the buck — a blend of NHRA talent, Canadian Pro Mods, and a high-octane Outlaw lineup. With just 9 days to go, ticket holders can expect a festival of speed fueled by heart, horsepower, and serious gratitude for the fans who kept the excitement alive.

And this isn’t charity — it’s loyalty. It’s respect. It’s a group of racers who know their fans, appreciate their dedication, and want to give back in the best way they know how: with a weekend of unforgettable racing.

For the Fans

If recent weeks have reminded the racing world of anything, it’s not just the machines that matter — it’s the people. The racers who picked up the phone when they could’ve turned off the ignition. The promoters who made space where there was none. The fans who never stopped supporting, even when the schedule fell apart. It’s not corporate, it’s not scripted, it’s not even sanctioned in the traditional sense. It’s punk-rock motorsport.

This July, the Outlaws aren’t just racing in Canada. They’re standing with it.

RAD Torque Raceway, July 11–13, Rocky Mountain Nationals supercharged with Outlaw fury, proving once again that drag racing isn’t just about torque and tires — it’s about tenacity, family, loyalty, and a little chaos.

So buckle up, Alberta. July 11–13 is shaping up to be one for the books.
